I have a theory that while a man might not always get the wife he wants or needs, he always gets the wife he deserves.

About This Quote

The “Equal Rights Amendment” was a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution that would have granted equal rights to women. It was passed by Congress in 1972 and it failed to get enough states to ratify it for the amendment to become law. In the early 1970s, the idea of women being able to have equal or similar rights as men was a radical idea. Therefore, the statement did not strike a lot of people as a joke.

But, a lot of people thought it a great joke. However, there were many women who did not find it funny. They saw this statement as a slap in the face because they felt it did not have any merit or truth behind it.

And that is what they deserved because they had given up on their dreams and instead had chosen to settle with men who were not good for them in order to be with someone who was. Women who put up with mistreatment from their husbands deserved all of the bad things that happened to them because they had chosen such men over what they really wanted in life: happiness and love.
